Jockey Club Younger Onset Dementia Support Project – Basic Training Course

With the generous donation from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, JCCPA has launched the first pilot project in Hong Kong which strives to deliver quality service of dementia care for people with younger onset dementia. This 3-year innovative pilot project aims to support people who are suspected/diagnosed with younger onset dementia and also their family caregivers.

In order to enhance the understanding of dementia among family caregivers, two basic training courses were held on 21 October. Ms Ally Lam, registered social worker, shared with over 150 caregivers, regarding the symptoms of dementia, communication skills, effective caregiving tactics on taking care people with dementia in different stages and care plan via interactive ways such as games, videos and textual content. During the talk, she also addressed caregivers’ concerns and difficulties in caring, which greatly benefited them when facing daily caregiving.
