Jockey Club Post-diagnostic Support in Dementia Care Programme

Social Worker Ms Sandy Fan visited Sun Chui Lutheran Centre for the Elderly to share about dementia knowledge and brain health tips with the elderly. In addition, an on-site cognitive test was made by using the EC Screen App introduced by the PDSP programme. Very positive responses were received from the elder participants.


PDSP aims to promote early screening, early diagnosis and early intervention for Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), providing free cognitive test for adults aged 50 or above. Welcome to contact us for more details (Tel: 2946 8185).

"The Tail Before "Film Public Sreening cum "Care in Late Stage Dementia" Sharing Session (the 13th session)

JCCPA and Wing Wah Charity Foundation jointly organize a number of film screenings of “The Tail Before” cum “Care in Late Stage Dementia” Sharing Sessions from July 2018 to June 2020. Against the backdrop involving different stakeholders in the sharing sessions, both caregivers and professionals in the fields can share their views, concerns and enquiries on the topic of Advance Care Planning through discussion. We deeply appreciate the generous support from Wing Wah Charity Foundation.

The thirteenth screening session, which was co-organized by The Hong Kong Chinese Christian Churches Union Kwong Yum Care Home, was successfully held on 3 August 2019. Training Consultant Mr. Andrew Lau discussed the topic of advance care plan with the participants.

Birthday Celebration

JCCPA held quarterly birthday celebrations on 20 August and 23 August with our service users. The elderly and staff sang birthday songs together, enjoyed the delicious birthday cake and played many interesting cognitive games at the same time. We wish all the elderly a healthy and joyful time every day!

Caregiver Support Group

The seventh session of Caregiver Support Group was conducted on 17 August 2019. Mr. Andrew Lau shared with the participants on “Managing Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms in Dementia – Practical Application I”.

Dementia Community Support Scheme

In collaboration with Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, JCCPA is providing training courses for the “Dementia Community Support Scheme”. The training aims to facilitate professional and frontline staff to be familiar with the operation of the Scheme and enhance their capacity, expertise and skills in providing support service to people with dementia. The first cohort started since March and there were 2 lectures conducted in this month.

“Dementia Community Support Scheme” is launched by The Food and Health Bureau in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and the Hospital Authority (HA). This scheme provides dementia community support services to elderly persons with mild or moderate dementia and their caregivers in the community through the participation of 41 District Elderly Community Centres (DECC). 8 & 15 August: Mr. Andrew Lau was invited by Lok Sin Tong Chan Lai Jeong Kiu Neighbourhood Elderly Centre to share “Life story book” and “Group activity design” with their frontline and professionals staff.

13 & 27 August: Mr. Andrew Lau was invited by Lok Sin Tong Wan Lap Keung Neighbourhood Elderly Centre to share “Group activity design” and “Life story book” with a group of professionals and frontline staff.

14 August:Mr. Andrew Lau was invited by SAGE Tsuen Wan District Elderly Community Centre to share a session of “Dementia Experience” with 30 professionals and frontline staff.

19 August: Occupational Therapist Mr David Lau was invited by Lok Sin Tong Leung Kau Kui Home for the Elderly to share a session of “Fall management”.

20 August: Mr David Lau was invited by Lok Sin Tong Wan Lap Keung Neighbourhood Elderly Centre to share “Environmental design and use of technology”.

22 & 29 August: Mr. Andrew Lau was invited by Lok Sin Tong Chu Ting Cheong Home for the Aged to share “Life story book” and “Different therapeutic approaches and their effectiveness” with their frontline and professionals staff.

23 August: Mr. Andrew Lau was invited by Buddhist Po Ching Home for the Aged Women to share a session of “Person-centred Care” with 25 frontline staff.

27 August: Senior Training Consultant Mr. Kenny Chui was invited by Yan Chai Hospital Social Services Department to share “BPSD management” with 24 frontline staff.
