Residential Activity – Autumn Outing

The crisp autumn air made it the perfect season to go on an outing with our residents. Recently, we joined our residents and their families in exploring a tranquil oasis within the city—Nan Lian Garden—where we spent a weekend filled with laughter and leisure.

On the day of the event, everyone strolled through the Tang-style pavilions and towers, immersed in the rich historical atmosphere. We admired the elegant pines, unique rocks, and cascading waterfalls, allowing both body and mind to fully relax in nature. Bathed in sunlight, each step was accompanied by cheerful conversations and warm laughter, creating the most beautiful memories of this autumn.

We sincerely thank every resident and family member for their enthusiastic participation, as well as our colleagues for their thoughtful companionship and care throughout. This activity not only helped everyone unwind but also deepened the bonds between us.

Training Courses for Dementia Care

With the generous support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant, JCCPA continues to organise the training programme for caregivers.

The latest seminar was successfully held on 13 December, with Nursing Officer Ms. Carol Kong as the guest speaker, sharing insights on “How to Manage Behavioral Symptoms in People with Dementia.” The event attracted over 240 family caregivers, who gained a deeper understanding of the causes behind such behaviors and learned appropriate strategies to effectively reduce distress, thereby promoting the well-being of both caregivers and care recipients.

Our center will continue to organize caregiving skills courses for family caregivers, offering practical solutions and support tailored to their needs and challenges. We hope to help ease caregiving stress and walk alongside families on this journey.

New Season of Courses on the EDU Platform Launches

In June 2023, our center launched Hong Kong’s first comprehensive online learning platform on dementia care — the EDU Dementia Online Learning Platform. The platform offers a variety of courses that share dementia knowledge and caregiving skills through videos, interactive activities, and exercises. Content is presented in an engaging and easy-to-understand way. Users can learn anytime and anywhere at their own pace, with each course providing notes to help them grasp key points and revisit essential caregiving tips.

The platform has now released a new season of courses, featuring the Environmental Design Course specially designed for caregivers. Interested participants may visit the following website for details and registration.
