Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) 2025

The Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit was held from November 20 to 23, and we were honored to be invited to set up a booth to introduce the “EDU Online Learning Platform for Dementia”. Over the four-day exhibition, more than 1,000 visitors came to our booth to explore and experience the EDU platform.

The “EDU Online Learning Platform for Dementia” is the first comprehensive online learning platform in Hong Kong dedicated to dementia. It is designed for family caregivers, professionals, corporate staff, and anyone interested in understanding dementia. Through easy-to-understand explanations and real-life scenarios, the platform offers courses on dementia knowledge and caregiving skills. The courses also include exercises, quizzes to boost motivation, and downloadable notes for review and reinforcement.

Day Centre Activity – Doctor Dog

We were thrilled to welcome the “Doctor Dog” team from Animals Asia to our Centre! The team, along with three wonderful volunteers and their smart and adorable dog companions, created a heartwarming and joyful interaction session with our service users.

Special thanks to the volunteers and Doctor Dogs: Hanee, Silver, and Handsome. Through their loving interaction, we saw radiant smiles on the faces of our service users, momentarily forgetting their worries. The healing power of animal companionship was fully displayed in this touching and tender moment.

This activity not only brought joy but also showcased the unique therapeutic value of animal-assisted therapy. The gentle and friendly nature of the Doctor Dogs helped bridge the gap between humans and animals, creating an unforgettable healing experience.

Day Centre Activity – Visit by Hong Kong Stuntman Association Volunteers

We were greatly thankful to host a volunteer team from the Hong Kong Stuntman Association at our Centre, bringing an engaging and surprising interactive performance for our service users!

On the day, the volunteer performers interacted warmly with residents through games and even sang beautifully, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere. The audience was captivated and actively participated in every part of the performance, with laughter and applause filling the room.

Special thanks to the volunteer artists from the Association for their heartfelt dedication and for preparing lovely small gifts for our residents, bringing joy and care in a truly memorable way.

Day Centre Activity – Visit by Gin Lee Fans Club Volunteers

We were also delighted to welcome volunteers from the Gin Lee Fans Club to our Day Centre, where they joined residents in a hands-on art workshop on “Decoupage Shell Art”, spending an afternoon filled with creativity and joy.

During the activity, the volunteers patiently guided residents to carefully paste intricate designs onto shells, creating unique and beautiful artworks. The process was filled with warm conversations and laughter. Our service users not only experienced the satisfaction of crafting but also smiled brightly with the warm companionship of the volunteers.

Special thanks to the Gin Lee Fans Club volunteers for their heartfelt participation. Through art, they built meaningful connections and brought a joyful and unforgettable time to our service users.

Training Courses for Dementia Care

With the generous support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant, JCCPA continues to organise the training programme for caregivers.

In the past month of November, we successfully held two sessions on November 1st and 15th. We were honored to invite Dr. Jenny Lee Shun Wah, Consultant Geriatrician from Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and Tai Po Hospital, and Lawyer Ms. Olivia Leung as guest speakers. These two sessions attracted over 418 family caregivers, who came together to learn more about planning for the future of people living with dementia.
