“Echoes of Memory” Exhibition

JCCPA 25th Anniversary Presents: “Echoes of Memory” Exhibition

The brain is the most important and sophisticated organ in the human body. It governs the functioning of our entire system and gives us the ability to think, perceive, remember, and love. But how much do we truly understand about the brain? And when this intricate system—made up of billions of neurons woven into a galaxy-like network—begins to change due to dementia, how does our world transform? This exhibition will take you on a journey to explore the brain and gain a deeper understanding of dementia. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Jockey Club Centre for Positive Ageing (JCCPA) will host a 10-day event titled “JCCPA 25th Anniversary Presents: ‘Echoes of Memory” Exhibition’ at D·PARK in Tsuen Wan from 1 to 10 October 2025. The event aims to raise public awareness of brain health and promote understanding of dementia and ways to reduce its risk factors through engaging and easy-to-understand interactive exhibitions and experiential activities.

The Exhibition features five interactive zones, thoughtfully designed to guide visitors through a progressive journey of discovery into the mysteries of the brain:

Zone 1:
Whisper of the Four Lobes

Through four interactive experiences, visitors will gain a clearer understanding of the functions and importance of the temporal, parietal, frontal, and occipital lobes in relation to memory, sensory perception, thinking, and vision.

Zone 2:
Open Dementia City

Through three interactive experiences, participants can personally explore and understand the daily challenges faced by individuals living with dementia. By immersing themselves in simulated scenarios and sensory experiences, visitors will gain deeper insight into the needs of people with dementia, fostering greater empathy and social awareness.

Zone 3:
Final Memories

Inside a cozy cabin, visitors are invited to write down their most cherished memories, creating their own “final memory”. This zone encourages reflection on the value of memory and offers a heartfelt way to show care and support for individuals with dementia.

Zone 4:
The 14 Risk Factors

According to a report published by The Lancet in July 2024, nearly 45% of global dementia cases could potentially be prevented or delayed by effectively reducing 14 risk factors: hearing loss, high cholesterol, vision impairment, depression, social isolation, low education level, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity, brain injury, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, and air pollution. To help the public better understand these abstract concepts, the exhibition features vivid illustrations by local artist Don Mak, bringing the 14 dementia-related risk factors to life. The zone also includes 14 interactive installations to enhance visitor engagement and make dementia prevention knowledge more relatable to everyday life.

Zone 5:
Silver Footprints

This zone invites visitors to revisit the 25-year journey of Jockey Club Centre for Positive Ageing, showcasing how the Centre has steadily advanced dementia care services and made a positive impact on society, the public, individuals with dementia, caregivers, and the professional sector. The Zone also features awards and recognitions received over the years, along with tools and publications developed by the Centre – testaments to its dedication and achievements in promoting a spirit of care and professionalism.

Before entering the Exhibition, visitors can collect a postcard to use as a personal record of your journey. At the end of each zone, you can stamp your postcard with a unique “Memory Mark”. Once all five stamps are collected, visitors can redeem a souvenir at the “Gift Redemption” counter – leaving a meaningful keepsake from your brain health journey.
