Many of our elderly members had prior experience making rice dumplings when they were young, so they shared their expertise with each other as well as our colleagues while preparing the ingredients. This activity not only evokes memories of the Dragon Boat Festival among the elder members but also serves as a reminder of the festival. Moreover, the process of making rice dumplings helps to train their cognitive abilities, eye-hand coordination, and spatial processing skills. On the 28 June , an educational talk on dementia and brain health was conducted for 120 students. The students were very enthusiastic and actively participated in the exhibition as well as the talk by raising their hands to answer questions. Through a simplified approach, we shared dementia knowledge, the importance of brain health and the four elements of brain care with students. She shared with more than 260 family caregivers the physical changes of people with dementia at different stages and the essential care guidelines for each stage. She also shared her knowledge about Advanced Care Planning (ACP) and offered guidance on preparing for end-of-life care. Additionally, Dr Lee addressed various enquiries from caregivers in detail. For example, the applicability of ACP on ambulances, gives caregivers a better understanding of how to prepare for end-of-life care.<\/p><p>Registration for the caregiver training course in July 2024 is now open. The July course \u201cIntensive Training I\u201d and \u201cIntensive Training II\u201d will be held on 13 July (Saturday) at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Our registered social worker, Ms Ally Lam will introduce some basic knowledge of dementia and tactics for taking care of people with dementia in different aspects. The training course will be in the form of a video and the Q&amp;A session will be livestreamed.
