She shared with more than 80 family caregivers on the basic knowledge of dementia, including understanding dementia, communication skills, different stages of care and care planning. She also addressed enquiries from caregivers with practical suggestions during the talk, e.g. cognitive games for people with dementia to play at home to strengthen their brain function and other abilities.<\/p><p>Registration for the caregiver training course in February and March 2024 is now open. Over 120 doctors and NGO workers attended the training on the first day.<\/p><p>The training commenced with a warm welcome from Professor Timothy Kwok, Director of Jockey Club Centre for Positive Ageing. Two esteemed medical consultants of the DSCS project, Dr. Au-Yeung Tung Wai, Consultant of the Department of Medicine and Geriatrics of Pok Oi Hospital, and Dr. Jenny Lee, Consultant of the Department of Medicine at Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and Tai Po Hospital, Deputy Hospital Chief Executive of Tai Po Hospital also extended their greetings to the participants.<\/p><p>During the training, Professor Timothy Kwok introduced \u201cthe pathology and impact of common dementias\u201d,\u201d the prevention of hospital admission for people with dementia\u201d, and \u201chow to use technology for initial screening and follow-up\u201d. Furthermore, Dr. Kenny Cui, Deputy General Manager of JCCPA, provided a brief introduction to the DSCS project.<\/p><ul><li>Co-organisers Workers workshop<\/li><\/ul><p>In addition, we also held a two-day professional staff training workshop on the 26th and 29th of January, with the participation of over 25 staff from the coorganisers. Ms Florence Ho General Manager), Dr Kenny Chui (Deputy General Manager), Mr Kingsley Pun (Nursing Officer), Mr Ben Chan (Physiotherapist I), Ms Ally Lam (Assistant Social Work Officer) and Mr Morris Wong (Information Technology Officer) explained the logistics, service flow and intervention method of the project to the participants. They also demonstrated a &#8220;Balancing Exercise&#8221;, which people with dementia could practice at home, and explained the design concept behind the exercise. Our goal is to ensure a smooth service in the future by sharing and exchanging experiences.<\/p><p>The Jockey Club &#8220;Brain Health&#8221; Dementia Screening and Community Support Project adheres to the principles of &#8220;early detection, early diagnosis, and early intervention&#8221;.
