People with younger onset dementia refer to people aged 65 or below who have been diagnosed with dementia by a specialist. Since people with younger onset dementia are younger than general people suffered from dementia, support in early stage would be vital for them. There are several objectives in this project:<\/p><ul><li>To raise public awareness towards brain health, younger onset dementia and the importance of early planning<\/li><li>To provide appropriate services to people with younger onset dementia to meet their unique needs<\/li><li>To boost the confidence and ability of the elder or young care partners for caring people with younger onset dementia<\/li><li>To train up different medical professionals in order to enhance their understanding and caring knowledge for younger onset dementia<\/li><\/ul><p>The project also provides diagnostic services (subject to quota) for eligible and clients with special needs, including consultation with specialists, arranging brain scans and laboratory tests. The public can also undergo evaluation and diagnosis by specialists (such as neurologists or psychiatrists) through public or private medical services. Specialists will provide medical certificates, referral letters, and medical prescriptions to those diagnosed. The above documents are accepted as proof for service application in this project.<\/p><p>When engaging with each family, we understand the anxiety and worry of caregivers about the cognitive decline of their loved ones. We have prepared different aroma scents for participants to have a quick sniff, then selected and mixed their favorite aromas. We also encouraged them to place their favourite aroma at home in order to slow down their pacing and relieve stress from hustle and bustle life. During these years of epidemic, we often wear mask frequently, olfactory stimulation could be brought to them via this workshop.<\/p><p>Furthermore, most urbanites have experienced shoulder and neck pain. Therefore, we have shared some techniques of self-help massage, helping participants to alleviate their pressure as well as muscle pain. Also, we encouraged them to pay more attention on both their physical and mental health.<\/p><p>After attending the workshop, they had some preliminary understanding on aromatherapy and self-help massage techniques.
