Because of this situation, JCCPA conducted three Facebook Live Talks introducing meaningful activities for the elderly and their caregivers.<\/p><p>The first live programme &#8220;Physical Exercise&#8221; was conducted on 2 September. Dr. Kenny Chui, Chief Training Consultant of JCCPA, and Mr. Jay Lam, Australian Rehab Trainer, introduced a series of physical exercise that is suitable for the elderly.<\/p><p>On 9 September, Ms. Yasmin Li, Music Therapist of JCCPA, and Dr. Peter Cheung, a well-known celebrity Musician, shared how music improves the behavioural and psychological symptoms of the elderly. They introduced some music activities suitable for all family members in the second episode &#8220;Music&#8221;.<\/p><p>Ms. Bonnie Li, Head of Nursing of JCCPA, and Ms. Kearan Pang, Movie Director, conducted the last episode &#8220;Cooking&#8221; cum &#8220;Care in Late-Stage Dementia&#8221; Sharing Sessions since July 2018. Against the backdrop involving different stakeholders in the sharing sessions, both caregivers and professionals in the fields shared their views, concerns, and enquiries on the topic of Advance Care Planning through discussion.<\/p><p>The closing ceremony was on 19 September via Facebook Live. The project launched a new series of the &#8220;Family Caregivers Training Course&#8221; from September to December on a free-of-charge basis. The first two modules of the new series were conducted on 26 September via an online platform.<br \/><br \/>Our Occupational Therapist, Mr. Andy Chung, and Training Consultant, Mr. Andrew Lau, shared with the family caregivers about home environmental design, the prevalence of home accidents, behaviour and psychological symptoms of dementia, and the prevention of missing incidents.<br \/><br \/>Mr. Andy Chung and Mr. Andrew Lau responded and advised the caregivers according to their caring cases and how to overcome various challenges when caring for people with dementia. The training was conducted in a pleasant atmosphere; participants raised questions and responded very enthusiastically. We sincerely hope the practice could help them alleviate their difficulties and pressures. A group of &#8220;Dim Sum masters&#8221; and &#8220;Chinese restaurant waiters&#8221; from Project Futurus visited the Centre and celebrated the Festival with the elderly. The Dim Sum masters and waiters served the elderly with freshly made steamed dumplings, BBQ pork rice roll, and the most indispensable mooncakes. However, all these delicious traditional Cantonese Dim Sum were not ordinary Dim Sum; they were all soft meals. Chewing and swallowing may become difficult for some people with dementia.
