Apart from enjoying the Christmas meals and gifts, our service users learned how to make a Herbarium. Everyone had created their unique decoration by picking and putting their favourite flowers and colours into a lightbulb. During the party, participants were also served special drinks prepared by themselves. The training was conducted in a pleasant atmosphere; participants raised questions and responded very enthusiastically. We sincerely hope the practice could help them alleviate their difficulties and pressures. He cried frequently and did not want to stay at home. His family was frustrated; thus, they arranged Kwok-Choi to receive inpatient treatment. When Kwok-Choi was in the hospital, his family learned of the Jockey Club Discharge Support and Rehabilitation Programme; and enroll Kwok-Choi in the Programme.<br \/><br \/>In the beginning, Kwok-Choi still felt confused and cried sometimes. Our staff tried to assign him with some job duties; Kwok-Choi&#8217;s condition improved when his time was being occupied. It is observed that Kwok-Choi is interested in carrying out maintenance works, our staff assigned him with some safe and straightforward maintenance tasks, to let him gain a sense of accomplishment, which helped stabilise his emotions. In communicating with and receiving training from &#8220;co-workers&#8221;, Kwok-Choi&#8217;s expressing ability has been improved, and he can clearly express his opinion. Moreover, as Kwok-Choi&#8217;s daytime was filled with various meaningful activities, he could rest well at night. As a result, he became more energetic in the day, and his appetite improved.<br \/><br \/>Kwok-Choi has now returned home and reunites with his family.\u00a0 For thanking the staff of JCCPA for their good care, Kwok-Choi and his family members specially sent us a &#8220;Thank You&#8221; card and snacks. The supportive services include teaching dementia knowledge, caring and communication skills, stress and emotion management, future planning for people with early dementia and their caregivers, etc. The programme also provides a booklet &#8220;I PREFER (\u6211\u60f3\u8aaa)&#8221; for the caregivers to re-think their role in caring, increase their positive care experiences, and stand by the one who has dementia.<br \/><br \/>The Jockey Club Post-diagnostic Support in Dementia Care Programme (PDSP) website\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pdsp.hk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/pdsp.hk\/<\/a>\u00a0provides various caregiving skills and caregiver support tips for caregivers to learn more about the related knowledge and community resources to ease their burden.<br \/><br \/>Post-diagnostic Support in Dementia Care Programme offers free educational talks for NGOs and organizations.
