Programmes of the day centre are specially designed to allow choice of activities that are responsive to clients' individual needs, facilitate social interaction and involvement of the families. The specially designed programmes include: * Reminiscence * Reality orientation * Sensory stimulation without stress * Gardening * Physical exercise * Exercise to music * Sing-along * Current issues / Newspaper discussion * Self care training * Recreational and social activities * Cookery * Arts and Craft * Relaxation * Solo activities * Various interest groups (e.g. knitting, calligraphy)
* The aim is to provide a chance for the dementing client to explore his surroundings without feeling the need to achieve anything. At the same time, he can experience multi-sensory stimulation, e.g. visual, auditory, olfactory, touch, taste, etc. * Create an atmosphere of trust, relaxation and failure-free environment which stimulates the senses. * Emphasis on feelings and experience not learning.
* Provides comprehensive resources relating to dementia for professionals and the public. It includes literature, audio-visual resources, training courses for professional and caregivers etc. The purpose is to develop the expertise of carers working with dementing clients. * Promotes the skills and knowledge of caregivers in caring for the dementing elderly.
